Ram Niwas Bagh or Eclectic Garden located in Jaipur was built in 1868 during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh. Colonel Sir Swinton Jacob was chosen to design it. In the initial days, a Town Hall was to be opened at this place but Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh’s successor Madho Singh II convinced everyone to open this place as a museum. Let us tell you that earlier Ram Niwas Garden was spread over an area of 76 acres but later to provide more facilities to the tourists, this area was reduced to a little less than 30 acres.
