Jayavan cannon:
The main centre of attraction for the people in Jaigarh Fort is the Jaiwan cannon kept here, which is the world’s largest cannon situated on wheels. The Jaiwan cannon was manufactured in a foundry in Jaigarh during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II (1699–1743). Tourists from abroad also come to see this cannon. Its barrel is carved with decorations depicting an elephant scroll, trees and a pair of ducks or birds.
The cannon is mounted on wheels with the two rear wheel mechanisms mounted on roller pin bearings, allowing it to be rotated 360° and fired in any direction. This cannon was constructed with an aluminium shade to protect it from extreme weather conditions. The cannon had a range of about 10 kilometres and used 50 kg (110 lb) balls.
The northern part of this fort houses the famous Aram Temple and Charbagh Garden built in a grand Persian style.
Museum:
This fort has a grand museum which shows the lifestyle and times of Jaigarh Fort. In this museum, along with the stamps of the Jaipur royal family, other valuable artefacts and photographs, puppets and other war items are also stored which gives you a glimpse of the life of the royal families.
